Rooted in Wellness.
PatchRoots started during a time when I decided to take a risk and make some room for something different.
I had been working full time and, like a lot of people, had gotten used to life revolving around work, schedules, screens, and everything that needed to get done. I wanted more balance, but I also wanted the freedom to actually experience something outside of my normal routine.
So I went part time at my job and moved from Illinois to Montana for eight months.
It gave me the chance to spend more time outside, hike regularly, ski, try rock climbing, explore new places, and generally say yes to things I hadn't made much room for before.
I didn't move there with plans to start a wellness company. PatchRoots came from what that time taught me.
Where PatchRoots Took Root
Living in Montana changed the way I thought about wellness.
It became less about adding more things to my day and more about paying attention to the things that genuinely made me feel good. Getting outside. Moving. Sleeping well. Trying something new. Making time for myself outside of work.
None of it was particularly complicated.
That's where the idea behind PatchRoots started to come together. I wanted to create wellness products that reflected some of that same simplicity and could fit into everyday life without becoming another routine to manage.
Patches stood out to me because they did exactly that.
From an Idea to PatchRoots
That experience eventually led me to patches. I liked how simple the format was and started learning more about the ingredients, the technology behind them, and what makes a patch well formulated.
Sleep felt like a natural place to start, and that idea eventually became our first product, the PatchRoots Sleep Patch.
What started as an idea in Montana slowly became something real. From finding the right manufacturer and developing the brand to holding the finished patches for the first time, I've tried to build PatchRoots around the same idea that inspired it in the first place: wellness can be thoughtful without being complicated.
